The ancients in many different civilizations used
colored stones for healing and energy purposes. Crystals are even mentioned in the bible and many other esoteric texts.
The history of their use in healing goes back many thousands of years in many civilizations, including the Chinese, Native American, Tibetan and Egyptian, to name only a few.
The Egyptians used red stones and red color in general to protect from sickness, green stones for fertility, yellow stones for happiness.
Colored gemstones are very specifically sited in Revelation 21:11, & 18-20 NIV. “It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass. The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, the fifth sardonyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. ”
I am certain that each gemstone represented a significant esoteric or symbolic property important at the time.
It has long been known that you can positively influence many aspects of your life and health through color and color therapy. Quartz Crystals have been utilized as powerful healing objects and meditation tools, as well as medicinal elixirs .
The use of ‘sacred stones’ for mystical purposes was well known among many cultures and civilizations all over the world.
The stones were called amulets, and these magical charms were made in the form of small pendants attached to a necklace or bracelet. We are using this identical practice today, whether consciously or unconsciously!
The color therapists today utilize color for alleviation many problems; if you desire weight loss, then it is suggested that you increase the color blue in your life.
For alieviating migraine headaches they suggest that you increase the color red or indigo in your life.
For relief from depression, decrease the color indigo around you.
The color can be in your clothing, jewelry, or by simply holding the gemstone of the appropriate color that you would desire the therapeutic help from.
The various colors of quartz crystals, which we call gemstones, can be used in this way. They possess energy of their own, in their mineral content, that can be measured electronically. They generate a minute electrical charge called piezoelectricity.
Quartz has long been recognized for its ability to generate electrical impulses.
Quartz’s piezoelectric properties were discovered by Jacques and Pierre Curie in 1880.
Most quartz employed for use in microelectronics is produced synthetically, and it is often analized on the basis of its piezoelectric response called its Q factor.
It is an indicator of the purity of the crystal.
The process involves treating crushed natural quartz with hot aqueous mixture of a base such as sodium hydroxide.
They utilize large, flawless and “untwinned” crystals, ( twinned means distorted, or intergrown with adjacent crystals or minerals) They produce them in an autoclave via the hydrothermal process to make a uniform product.
This commercial quartz crystal manufacturing process was invented in Cleveland ,Ohio, USA by Charles Sawyer.
It {initiated|began|started the transition from mined and cut quartz for electrical appliances to manufactured quartz of today.
So, as we can see even scientifically, Crystals have their own unique vibration of a precise and measurable intensity. This vibration seems to be able to attune itself to human vibration better than any other gem or mineral.
Edgar Cayce, called the “Sleeping Prophet”, sited various crystals and gemstones by name, as a healing therapy in many of his psychic readings for illnesses in his patients.
The therapists today employ the use of Quartz Crystals because they can amplify, clarify and store energy.
They believe that when you create a thought, you can amplify and clarify it with a crystal.
There are many different kind of quartz, several of which are semi-precious gemstones. Many kinds of quartz have been used in making jewelry, artistic inlays, and carvings since antiquity.
When people talk about “quartz”, they often intend Macrocrystalline quartz.
Specifically, the Macrocrystalline kinds if Quartz crystals include the more transparent gemstones: ametrine, citrine, rose quartz, amethyst, smoky quartz, milky quartz, rock crystal, and prasiolite, which is a transparent minty green color.
Color is a primary means of identification for this type of gemstone.
The variety of Quartz called cryptocrystalline are often referred to as chalcedony.
These Cryptocrystalline varieties of Quartz Crystal are either translucent or mostly opaque,
and to be specific the common ones in that sub-catagory called Microcrystalline include Calcedony, Agate, Jasper, Onyx, Tiger’s Eye, Carnelian, and Aventurine.
These gemstones are identified and catagorized by their microstructure, and only secondarily by their color.
Gemstones have incredible energetic properties, inherent in their color, their structure and also their ability to bring the sheer joy of their beauty into our lives from deep within the earth.
I think that is why we connect with them so well: we can connect with ourselves through the earth, the remote past and maybe even the energy of the universe through their formation. What a gift they truly are !
